Scam Alert: Beware of free tickets scams using AirAsia brand

SEPANG (29/05/2017): Scammers have taken to the sky by offering free AirAsia tickets to unsuspecting social media users.
Two such scams which surfaced, had been detected by the leading low cost airline.
In a statement today AirAsia said one of it is a social media post that has been circulating offering free tickets through an online survey.
The scam directs to a link www.airasia.com-2017-givea.us and requires participants to answer questions in order to redeem the vouchers, it said.
In addition, there is also another scam circulating on Facebook, offering 268 free AirAsia tickets in conjunction with AirAsia’s 28th anniversary, it added.
“We would like to confirm that both of the social media posts are scam, which uses the AirAsia brand without authorisation, to lure the public to participate in its scheme,” it said.
“We strongly advise the public to disregard such scams and not to click on any links or to provide any personal details,” it added.
AirAsia adds that it will not be held liable for any claims pertaining to the false scheme and all official announcements are made via airline’s official channels and credible mass media.
“We will not hesitate to take legal action against individuals or groups who organise illegal schemes using the AirAsia brand,” it said.
It said that when in doubt or to report on suspected scams using the AirAsia brand, the public may get in touch with AirAsia via the following official communication channels:
