Female Immigration officer injured after being crushed by foreigners during operation

PUTRAJAYA (26/05/2017): A female Immigration Department enforcement officer was injured after she was crushed by a group of foreigners who were trying to escape on foot during an integrated operation around Jalan Desa Aman Puri Kepong in Kuala Lumpur.

Immigration Department deputy director-general (operations) Datuk Jaafar Mohamed said besides the woman, several officers suffered injuries in the incident.

He said 120 enforcement personnel from the department were involved in the 12.10am operation on Thursday, which was mounted following reports from members of the public over a disturbance by Africans in the area.

"During the raid, some of the foreigners acted aggressively and tried to flee from the enforcement officers. However, they were all apprehended," Jaafar said in a statement here.

He said 102 of the 156 foreigners aged between 20 and 45, were detained for various offences including not having identification documents, possession of fake work permits and other offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Amendment 2002).

Those detained comprised 94 Nigerians including 14 women, a Senegalese man, three Bangladeshi men, an Indonesian woman and two Thai women.

They were sent to the Bukit Jalil Immigration Depot for further action, Jaafar said.
He also said the injured female officer was taken to Selayang Hospital for treatment.
Fourteen foreigners also sustained minor injuries, Jaafar added.  - Bernama
