Teen addict stabs sleeping sister, now in police remand

ALOR STAR (25/01/2017): Police have detained a 15-year-old boy from Sik for allegedly stabbing his younger sister while she was fast asleep in their home at Kampung Kepala Bata, yesterday. Sik police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Ismail Ibrahim said the juvenile drug junkie was arrested in Kampung Chepir not long after the 5.30am incident.

He said police also recovered a knife, believed to have been used to attack his 14-year-old sister. “We have obtained a week-long remand order against the suspect. The teenager also tested positive of syabu,” he said.

The siblings’ father said this incident was the most painful part of a long nightmare which the boy has dragged his family through since he started taking syabu last year. Recalling the incident, the 52-year-old pasar malam trader said he was awakened by his daughter’s frantic cry for help from her bedroom. He was shocked to find his daughter bleeding profusely.

“I rushed her to the Sik Hospital and she was immediately transferred to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital,” he said when met at the hospital today. He said his daughter received four stitches for the stab wounds on her the lower left portion of her chest and was in stable condition.

The father believed that the attack was motivated by the boy’s anger towards his sister for telling on him. He said he was away manning his stall at the pasar malam (night market) with his wife when the boy took the opportunity, inviting his friends over to take syabu at home.

“My son picked up his bad habit from his friends and soon after, he quit school. “I took him to the Sik police station last year and he tested positive for syabu,” he said.
