District police chief Assistant Commissioner Idris Abdul Rafar said checks showed the suspect, a Myanmar national, has not gone far and most likely to be hiding somewhere in the district.

"We are going to get him soon, he is not far from here," he said today. Idris said in the 10.30am incident, the victim, also a Myanmar, was stabbed in the stomach following an argument with the suspect.

The victim, who sustained serious injury, has been warded at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital and reported to be in a stable condition.
