Mum: Help find my girl

GEORGE TOWN (29/11/2016): A frantic mother is seeking the public’s help to look for her 17-year-old daughter who left their flat in Macallum Street Ghaut and failed to return.
Coffee shop operator Koh Gaik Choo, 42, said she returned home at about 8.30pm on Sunday and found her daughter Yap Sook Yin missing.
“Her belongings including her clothes and shoes were also missing.
“She took my grey Honda CR-Z Hybrid (registration number PMR 1100) with her.
“I believe she could be with a friend as she had just obtained her driving licence and is not so good at driving yet.
“She has never done this before and I am worried that something could have happened to her,” she said during a press conference at the Penang Gerakan headquarters yesterday.
Koh, who is a single mother, said she worked long hours at the coffee shop to provide for her family, adding that she would leave the flat in the morning and return only at night.
“My 12-year-old son was at home that day and told me he did not notice anything amiss. He was in his bedroom and was not aware his sister had left the flat.
“There has been no argument or misunderstanding between us but I suspect that she could have been influenced by someone to run away from home,” she said.
Koh, who lodged a missing person’s report at the Patani Road police station yesterday, said her daughter had talked about moving out a few times for no apparent reason.
“She’s quite a good student but decided to stop attending school about nine months ago as she does not get along with her schoolmates.
“She’s at home most of the time other than going to the gym or jogging.
“I’ve contacted a few of her friends but they do not know where she is,” she said.
State Gerakan vice-chairman Oh Tong Keong urged the girl to come home so she could thrash out whatever problems she could have had with her mother.
“I’ve shared the news on our Gerakan news portal. She is just a teenager and it is dangerous for her to be away from home without anyone knowing her location.”

He urged those who know of her whereabouts to call Koh at 016-4447932.
