KUALA LUMPUR --- An unemployed man was sentenced to three years' jail by the Sessions Court Friday for gang-robbery.

Judge Balqis Aini Mohd Ali handed down the sentence on Rahimi Wahdanur Daifi, 27, who pleaded guilty to committing the offence on an Iranian student.

Rahimi was charged with another person still at large with robbing Nariman Ayoubi, 22, of a wallet containing RM350 and personal documents at Jalan Ampang here at 2 am last March 30.

The offence, under Section 395 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum imprisonment for 20 years and is liable to whipping.

In mitigation, Rahimi, who was unrepresented, said he was a single father with a young child and also had to take care of his ailing parents.
