‘Centenarian’ attacked for no apparent reason



LIMBANG --- A ‘centenarian’ sustained a broken left arm and injured her back when she was attacked by two strangers, while strolling in her compound at Batu Tiga, Pandaruan Road recently.

Limbang police chief Supt Mohd Bukhori Saffai said the two suspects, aged 35 and 38 had been detained on Friday and were being remanded to facilitate further investigation.

He said one of the suspects had just come out of prison a week ago.

Police are investigating the case under Section 324 of the Penal Code (for causing hurt and grievous hurt with a weapon) which provides for a maximum prison term of 20 years, a fine or whipping.

According to the police report made by a family member, the incident occurred about 9am on March 17, when the granny, 97 was attacked by two men for no apparent reason.

The victim was later sent to Limbang Hospital and later sent to a private clinic in Miri for further treatment.
