Sentencing delayed for man convicted of robbery


KUCHING --- The Sessions Court here yesterday adjourned to Feb 2 the sentencing of a man found guilty of robbery.

Judge Dayang Ellyn Narisa Abang Ahmad fixed the date to sentence Ramlan Daud, to enable the prosecutor to check on any record of previous convictions as well as to enable mitigation for the accused.

Ramlan was found guilty of robbing a man of his mobile phone at Main Bazaar on Aug 1 around 3pm.

At the same time, he also voluntarily caused hurt to the victim.

The charge was framed under Section 394 of the Penal Code, which provides up to 20 years in jail and caning upon conviction.

DPP Poh Yoh Tinn prosecuted.
