Teen faces jail for failed Milo ‘heist’

KUALA LUMPUR  --- A failed Milo "heist" resulted in a teenager being brought before the magistrate's court on Tuesday.

Unemployed, Muhammad Habbas Mohamed Jalil, 18, pleaded guilty to stealing 10 packets of Milo worth RM359.90 from a supermarket here.

He is accused of having committed the offence at the Selayang Tesco Extra supermarket at 4.30pm on Friday.

According to the statement of facts, a mall worker had seen Habbas and two accomplices behaving suspiciously. The worker said that the three had gone to the mineral water section with an empty shopping cart where they started emptying two boxes containing bottles of mineral water. They then filled 10 2kg Milo refill packs into the two boxes before pushing their cart to the cashier to make payment.

All three were stopped by a guard while they were trying to make their way out after paying only RM17 for the two boxes of “mineral water”.

Habbas’ two accomplices, however, managed to escape.

The teen was charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code which carries a jail sentence of not more than 10 years and a fine if convicted.

Magistrate Husna Dzulkifly set RM4,000 bail with one surety and fixed Jan 26 for mention.
