Four arrested as police probe death at wedding


LUNDU: Police arrested four individuals yesterday to facilitate an investigation into a fight at a wedding that resulted in the death of a man at Kampung Stungkor last Sunday.

According to Lundu District police chief DSP Wong Chee Keong, all four arrested aged between 24 and 47 are from Kampung Stungkor Baru.

They were subsequently placed on remand for seven days while police investigate the case.

At a wedding reception last Sunday, a man identified as Jelis Jais, 43, was killed in a fight.

He was rushed to Bau Hospital with two other men at around 3.30am.

Jelis died from his serious wounds at 10.20am.

The case is classified as murder – an offence provided for by Section 302 of the Penal Code, which holds the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.
