Police arrest 14 suspects for kidnapping millionaire Tan Sri's elder sister

SHAH ALAM - Feeling on top of the world after getting an RM2 million ransom, nine suspects were having a good time at a cafe in Jalan Doraisamy, Brickfields when police ambushed and arrested them for kidnapping a 63-year old woman who is the elder sister of a millionaire businessman 'Tan Sri'.
Selangor police chief Datuk Abdul Samah Mat said police recovered RM514,270 of the ransom money, about RM200,000 was in a Toyota Altis, the main suspect's car while the remaining was recovered when police raided his house after the arrest.
The sister of the real-estate businessman was receiving treatment at a traditional treatment centre in Kelana Jaya on Nov 10 at about 6pm when three suspects stormed into the treatment room and kidnapped her.
One of the treatment centre's employees tried to stop the kidnappers but was attacked by the kidnappers with a helmet, and sustained injuries.
"Three employees working at the treatment centre were in the room when the kidnappers barged in but they could not do anything as the kidnappers were armed with knives.
"The kidnappers then bundled the victim into a waiting Toyota Estima and drove off," he said at a press conference, today.
He said the woman was detained at a house in Cheras and was released at the Bandar Baru Sentul LRT station on Monday after her family paid the RM2 million ransom.
"She was not harmed and only suffered some bruises from being tied up," Samah said.
Samah added that police have arrested 14 suspects involved in the case in three separate raids and recovered RM722,670 so far.
All of them have been remanded for seven days starting yesterday to assist investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 3(1) of the Kidnapping Act 1961.
