Cops say security under control despite alleged terror threat

PETALING JAYA@24 SEPTEMBER 2015 --- Petaling Street may be deserted tomorrow over fears of a riot threatened by the organiser of the red shirt protesters. Kuala Lumpur Hawkers and Petty Traders Association chairman Datuk Ang Say Tee said about 400 of the 773 traders were afraid that there would be chaos like what happened on Sept 16 when the red shirt rally took place. Otherwise, The United States Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has issued a travel advisory for Jalan Alor due to a possible terrorist threat. In a statement on the embassy’s website on Thursday night, it said the advisory was issued based on credible information regarding a potential terrorist act. It advised US citizens to avoid Kuala Lumpur’s Jalan Alor and the immediate surrounding areas on Thursday. For all other locations, the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur reminds US citizens of the need for caution and awareness of personal security. City police chief Datuk Tajuddin Md Isa (pic) said that police have assured the public that security in the capital is under control although reports of terrorist attacks at specific locations have emerged.
